#WalangPasok: March 2, 7, & 31, 2020 Declared as Special Non-Working Holidays

(Manila, Philippines) – Malacañang Palace has declared March 2, 7, and 31, 2020 as special non-working holidays in some areas in the Philippines.

To celebrate particular events, Class and Government work suspensions have been declared in the City of Panabo, Province of La Union and Province of Basilan.

#WalangPasok Announcements Class suspensions for March 2020

In a Proclamation signed by Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea, the Palace released  Proclamation Nos. 911, 912, and 913 series of 2020 officially declaring March 2, 7, and 31 as special holidays in two provinces and a city in Davao del Norte. The said holidays have been declared to give people an opportunity to celebrate along with the constituents of the said City or Province.

Walang Pasok Updates: Marso 2, 7, & 31, 2020

  • March 2, 2020 (Monday) – The province of La Union will celebrate its 170th Founding Anniversary based on Proclamation No. 911.
  • March 7, 2020 (Saturday) – The province of Basilan will celebrate its 46th Founding Anniversary based on Proclamation No. 912.
  • March 31, 2020 (Tuesday) – The City of Panabo in the province of Davao del Norte will celebrate its 19th Founding Anniversary based on Proclamation No. 913.

Department of Education (DepEd) Class Suspension Guideline:

  • DepEd Calls on parents to determine whether their children should go to school during typhoons, floods and other calamities in the absence of official announcements from DepEd.
  • In the absence of storm signal warnings, LGU are expected to announce whole day class cancellations not later than 4:30AM or half-day class suspensions not later than 11:00AM.
  • Storm signal warning declared by PAGASA between 10:00pm and 4:30AM reflect the whole day cancellation of classes in appropriate levels in the affected areas.
  • Storm signal warnings declared by PAGASA by 11:00AM automatically suspend the same day’s afternoon classes in appropriate levels in the affected areas.

*Suspension of classes for the tertiary level (colleges and universities) will be at the discretion of school management.
