    Based on the Department of Tourism directive, OYO accepts check-ins from foreign guests, government employees, and persons employed in essential services during the enhanced community quarantine.   • COVID-19: DOT8 Springs Stranded Tourists, Total Assisted Travelers Now at 11,000

    TACLOBAN CITY—Cebu Pacific sweeper flight airlifted at least (57) international tourists stranded due to flight cancellations in connection with the national state of health emergency measures.

    The sweeper flight was made possible by the DOT8 Action Team’s exhaustive efforts to contact stranded tourists within 16 hours from the scheduled flight, transporting them safely from various points in the region in coordination with the CAAP, and provision of DOT8 MalasaKITS and boarding passes.

  • A World War II Bomb Has Shut Down a Central London Airport

    London’s only central airport, London City, was closed Monday with all flights in and out cancelled, thanks to the discovery of an unexploded World War II bomb nearby.

    Construction workers found the bomb in King George V Dock, which is a stone’s throw away from the end of the London City Airport runway, on the River Thames. After they reported it to the Metropolitan Police in the early hours of Sunday morning, the airport was shut. It remained closed on Monday.

    Tacloban City, Philippines — The Department of Tourism – Region 8 has given the 4-star rating to The Oriental Hotel Leyte, the first in Eastern Visayas, at a recent assembly of private and public stakeholders in the region.
